1. What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is in an advanced Israeli Self Defense System designed to give real solutions to any violent situation one may encounter. The effectiveness of this system is in part due to its simplicity and reliance on your already existing instincts.
2. I am totally out of shape. Can I handle this training?
The training at Krav Maga Academy is physically challenging, however, every exercise, drill, or technique is designed to help you improve – no matter what fitness level you are currently in. We will be there to support you every step of the way.
3. Is Krav Maga a good idea for a woman?
Yes, Yes and Yes! Krav Maga by definition gives a smaller/weaker person real life street advantage against a larger/stronger assailant. Women are naturally targeted for various assaults, from domestic violence to robberies to attacks of a sexual nature, date-rapes and stalkers. Unlike other martial arts which rely on a person’s strength and size for advantage Krav Maga will give you the edge you need to never be a part of the statistics.
4. I see there are a few schools out there. What makes Krav Maga Academy special?
Krav Maga Academy is the only school where every single instructor is a former special operations soldier, with years of operational and teaching experience on the highest levels of military, police and counter-terrorism. We do not water down the system. You learn the same techniques Israeli Special Ops, SEALS and FBI agents learn to be able to protect themselves. Our equipment is top of the line. From human like punching dummies to the most realistic weapons, the best sparring gear and the highest level protective gear, we saved nothing in our goal to bring forth the most realistic training in the safest conditions.
5. Will I get injured in the class?
We maintain the highest level of safety procedures, training equipment and protective gear to make sure you will not get injured during class. That said, Krav Maga is an explosive activity and as such risk of injury always exists. As long as you follow the rules and use common sense, the risk of injury drops significantly.
6. Why Can’t I pay as I go? With no Commitment.
Krav Maga is a skill that requires time and effort to obtain. Since our classes tend to fill up, we want to invest our time, dedication and knowledge in those who take their training and personal safety seriously. If you just want to have a little fun for an hour – we suggest you try Zumba – elsewhere.
7. I already have a gym membership – is Krav Maga good for fitness AND Self Defense?
When you become a member of Krav Maga Academy you will have no further need for any other gym membership. We offer unlimited access to our Fitness Area, complete with brand new treadmills, weights, Kettle bells, benches, cable cross and TRX Suspension training, as well as separated fitness classes designed to build a stronger and leaner physique. In addition, practicing Krav Maga regularly engages your entire body and provides an intense strength and cardiovascular workout.
8. Do you train children?
Your child will never be bullied.
Krav Maga Academy is now offering Krav Maga and Self Defense classes for children.
Children are exposed to a variety of risks, ranging from violence in school or in the playground, to systematical bullying. Bullying is any behavior that designed to purposefully cause pain, hurt or fear – many times targeted against kids or teens that cannot defend themselves. Countless of children are afraid to go to school due to repeated abuse by peers. Sometimes the children report the behavior but many times the abuse goes unnoticed for prolonged periods of time. The result – on a psychological level the child becomes introverted, shy and frightened, unable or unwilling to form trust. Often the child shows anxiety and depression symptoms which can lead to anti-social behavior. School grades and other achievements drop as a result of low self esteem. Teachers confuse this drop with lack of effort, laziness or they might suspect something is happening at home. On a physical level violence is always dangerous. A shove down the stairs or at the playground or repeated punching can lead to severe injuries or worse.
At Krav Maga Academy we provide your child with the tools to avoid physical abuse – to be able to stop it at inception and deter any bully who might think he can hurt your child for whatever reason. We do not teach them to be violent, in fact we keep track of our students personal records and make sure they understand that with great power comes great responsibility. Children who devote their time to martial arts are much less likely to get involved in random violence.
Our training is fused with challenging and competitive games, technical learning and discipline. We maintain the highest level of safety, while giving them the tools to fend off and overturn a potentially violent or dangerous situation.
Our instructors are all former Israeli Special Forces soldiers who understand the importance of being a positive role model for their young students. We instill central core values like determination, goal setting, endurance, persistence and patience.
